What are Sorbent Rolls?

Hazero Sorbent Rolls are the reliable, all-rounder for wiping up spills, annoying drips and generally keeping workplaces clean and tidy; preventing slips, falls and contamination. Sorbent Rolls are a great option for high traffic area, as unlike Loose Absorbents, no granules are tracked from one site to another.

They’re available in Oil Only (especially good in marine or other wet environments) and General Purpose which has more than proved its worth in manufacturing and food production as a barrier around production lines, safeguarding hygiene.

They are made from melt-blown polypropylene, which is a very fast and effective absorbent, and one that will hold and retain liquid like nothing else. It is a synthetic product that has no shelf life, meaning they lose none of their effectiveness, regardless of their age.

Hazero Sorbent Rolls are 50m in length and available in two widths: 400mm or 800mm. Dispensers are also available for both sizes.

How much do Hazero sorbents absorb?

This will depend entirely on the liquid being absorbed and the viscosity of that liquid. Generally speaking, a 400mm wide Hazero Sorbent Roll will absorb up to 90L per roll, and the wider 800mm wide Hazero Sorbent Roll will absorb up to 144L per roll.

For more details on individual products, please refer to the specification sheets on our website.

What is the difference between Oil Only and General Purpose?

It is important to know the difference between the 3 types of sorbent products – noting that the same terminology is also used for spill response kits.

  • Oil Only: will repel water and selectively absorb oils, fuels and other hydrocarbons. Typically used in marine situations. White in colour.
  • General Purpose: will absorb the above liquids but also water-soluble liquids as well, such as coolants, brake fluid, paints and mild chemicals. Grey in colour.

How do I use a Sorbent Roll?

Think of a Sorbent Roll like your trusty kitchen paper towel – just bigger, and with far greater absorbency! While the Sorbent Roll is 50m in length, there are perforations every 500mm, and each section then has a perforation length way, so effectively you can get smaller pieces that are 200x500mm.

Sorbent Rolls are great along machinery or to line secondary containment products. Simply tear off the length you need and lay it down on the surface you are protecting. Because Sorbent Rolls have perforations, it is easy to replace a section as needed.

How do I dispose of used sorbents?

This does vary from region to region around the country, with different requirements coming from regional councils, depending on what facilities they have in the area to manage and take hazardous waste and clean up material.
We recommend you call your local council or visit their website, for disposal instructions specific to your region.
