What are Spill Trays?
Spill Trays were added to the Hazero range following demand for spill containment in situations where decanting and transferring liquids is done using bottles, jugs, and smaller containers.
Hazero Spill Trays are available in four sizes:
- Hazero Spill Tray - 20L | 01-1032
- Hazero Spill Tray - 40L | 01-1036
- Hazero Spill Tray - 60L | 01-1038
- Hazero Spill Tray - 100L | 01-1040
Please click here for the specifications of each, including their dimensions and containment capacities.
Why do I need secondary containment?
Having reliable secondary containment on hand will mitigate the impact of a spill, by ensuring liquids are kept safely contained, and prevented from having a much wider and damaging impact.
Secondary containment is also required by legislation for hazardous substances, once you reach a certain storage threshold. This does vary between hazard classes – please refer to our dedicated resource sheet which outlines at which point you need secondary containment for each class. To find out more on secondary containment read our helpful article here.
Common workplaces Hazero Spill Trays could be used in
Demand for the Spill Tray range comes from a wide range of users but apply particularly for the science and food sectors, as well as from the paint and panel industry. This also extends to workshop situations where oils and other liquids in smaller containers need secondary containment.
What are the risks to people, and the environment without Spill Trays?
Lids or taps leak, and spills can occur without warning during liquid transfer. Spills of hazardous substances can cause harm to your work and/or natural environment, as well as to the people that operate within it.
Can I store Spill Trays outside?
While Hazero Spill Trays are primarily designed to be used indoors, they can be used outdoors. Just remember the containment sump is there to contain spills of hazardous liquids, so ensure the Spill Tray is either covered or regularly checked to ensure it is kept free of rainwater.
Is it safe to store hazardous chemicals on Spill Trays?
Yes, in almost every case your Spill Tray is perfectly suitable for storing your hazardous substances. The rugged polyethylene construction ensures it will stand up to some of the strongest acids. To double check, please refer to our compatibility guide to make sure this applies to the liquids you have in your situation.
Will Hazero Spill Trays rust?
No, for the same reason as outlined in the previous point, Hazero Spill Trays are completely resistant to rust and corrosion. For more information on the benefits of polyethylene, click here.
If there is a spill, how can I empty/clean the Hazero Spill Tray?
This is a very simple process – simply remove the grate and clean out the containment area, using sorbent pads or suitable wipes. Watch our product video, here, to see how simple it is to remove the grate.
