Flexi Bund is a barrier, also called a bund, which can be fixed to the floor in areas where oils, fuel, chemicals or other hazardous substances are present. It forms an immediate containment area in the event of a leak or spill of these liquids and prevents them from reaching vulnerable points such as public areas, stormwater drains or other non-compatible substances.

Toxic substances are a class 6 dangerous good and are subdivided into two classes, class 6.1 – toxic substances or class 6.2 – infectious substances.

When storing Class 6.1A, 6.1B and 6.1C substances in quantities above the following thresholds, a hazardous substance location (HSL) must be established. There are specific rules for storing these substances in an HSL, depending on the type of HSL. 

Oxidising agents need to be held so they are protected from the risks of heat, friction or contact with other incompatible substances. This can be achieved by segregating and storing them in dedicated storage areas, or within cabinets that are designed for the specific storage of oxidising agents.

What are corrosive substances? 

Corrosive substances are substances that cause damage to other substances by means of chemical reaction. They are a class 8 dangerous good. 

Corrosive substances may cause severe harm to humans when in contact with living tissue such as skin, and damage or destroy surrounding materials such as steel and aluminium, in an uncontained situation.
